ABOUT DR. CRISTY CARR
Cristy Carr, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist, trauma specialist, and soul-centered teacher with nearly two decades of experience in spiritual restoration and trauma healing. Known for her grounded presence and compassionate insight, Dr. Carr guides individuals through the tender process of recovering from spiritual abuse, disentangling from toxic belief systems, and reclaiming their inner truth.
She holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Brainspotting Practitioner, and has been a Trauma Specialist since 2009 through the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children. Her additional training through Hazelden deepened her expertise in addiction recovery and the sacred path of healing shame, fragmentation, and loss.
Dr. Carr’s approach is integrative and soul-rooted, blending clinical excellence with ancient wisdom, mysticism, and embodied love. She has served in schools, community agencies, and private practice, and has held professional licensure in both Michigan and California. As a lifelong learner and devoted student of the soul, her work draws from psychology, nervous system science, contemplative practice, and spiritual depth to create lasting transformation.
She is best known for her ground-breaking title, The Forgotten Self—a book that explores the deep spiritual wounds often experienced within evangelical Christianity. Her forthcoming works, The Uncharted Self and A Journey Back to Love continue this journey to the Love that never left.
Dr. Carr currently lives on the island of Roatán, Honduras—where the rhythm of the sea and the stillness beneath the waves nourish her spirit. Her YouTube channel, @BubbleTherapy, captures the wonder of scuba diving as a playful expression of breath, presence, and renewal.
